Sunday March 2nd.  Club ride to Al Bakers Ranch. Story told by club member Susie Ellsworth who led the ride.

The monthly club ride in March had a different twist to it.  Seems that a house flew by, carried by the ever notorious gusty SoCal winds.  Susie Ellsworth reported that a young woman riding a bicycle with a dog was also seen flying by.  Larry riding a new solo Triumph noted that a greenish look women riding what appeared to be a broomstick was heard cackling as she whisked past him.  Larry swears that he heard her say " I'll get you my pretty"  So the planned trip to the Bakers Ranch will have to be rescheduled at a later time.  I've attached the email Suzie sent out describing that day's ride. Hello Everyone,
It was just a little windy on the 14.... took us almost 2 hours to
get to Palmdale.... almost blew Larry off the freeway... he was on
a solo bike, must mention that he is the one who wanted to take the
freeway as it would take us forever to get to Palmdale on
sideroads.... OK, so, I stopped at Solidad Cyn. off ramp and asked
if everyone was OK and if they would like to take the low road
(Sierra Hwy). Larry was the first one to say "Lets get the H.....
off this freeway....we were all of the same opinion. Top speed was
60 mph on the downhills and 40 mph on the up...The first mile or two
of the low road was rough too..
We met Mike Smith in Palmdale and he said that it was worse 10 miles
up the road. If we needed a new paint job, the sand was really
blowing out towards El Mirage and would do the sandblasting for
you....So, we took a canyon tour around Lake Hughes, was supposed to
take Spunky Cyn. but a mile or two up the road there was a HUGE tree
laying across the pathway and we didn't fit. The work crew was
just getting there with their chain saws. We doubled back up wind and
went into Lake Hughes on Elizabeth Lake Rd. Had lunch at the Rock
Inn and came home Lake Hughes Road to Castaic and freewayed in on
into the Valley. (San Fernando Valley).... Had a good day,
sunshine,High Winds, low ones too, and two blown fuses,,,, (guess the
 problem isn't totally fixed.)...
If this ride was at Disneyland it would be an 'E' ticket ride or a
White knuckle ride..definitely a white knuckle ride if you were on
a solo bike....The ride to Baker's Ranch aka Village will have to be
 rescheduled.....
 Susie
